1.4 ตำแหน่งของคำคุณศัพท์ (POSITION OF ADJECTIVES)
โดยทั่วไปแล้ว คำคุณศัพท์มักจะอยู่ใกล้ๆคำที่มันขยาย นั่นก็คือ ถ้าไม่อยู่ข้างหน้าก็อยู่ข้างหลังคำนาม
· คำคุณศัพท์ที่อยู่หน้าคำนาม เช่น my first bicycle, a good player.
· คำคุณศัพท์ที่อยู่หลังคำนามหรือสรรพนาม โดยปกติแล้วจะอยู่หลังคำกริยา verb to be และ linking verb (คำกริยาที่เกี่ยวกับการสัมผัสทั้งห้า) เช่น
Marc's car is blue.
This cake tastes good.
She is nice.
· คำคุณศัพท์จะอยู่ข้างหลังคำสรรพนามเสมอ เช่น
He's cute.
It's lovely.
CONVERSATION 1
A: That was a good movie.
B: I like the plot. It was very tricky.
A: Would you say that it's better than any science-fiction movie you saw?
B: I guess.
CONVERSATION 2
A: The movie was excellent.
B: The superb acting makes it very interesting.
A: Do you think that it's the best western film by far?
B: I think so.
