บทที่ 7 การให้ข้อเสนอแนะ
(Making Recommendation)
หลังจากสรุปสิ่งที่นำเสนอไปแล้ว ลำดับต่อไปก็คือการให้ข้อเสนอแนะจากผู้บรรยายว่าหนทางเลือก หนทางปฏิบัติ การดำเนินงาน หรือทางออกใดที่จะช่วยแก้ไข ปรับปรุง หรือพัฒนาประเด็นปัญหาหลักของการนำเสนอได้บ้าง ทั้งนี้ โดยเลือกใช้คำพูดแบบกลางๆที่เหมาะสมจากตัวอย่างต่อไปนี้
การเสนอแนะโดยทั่วไป

- I (would) propose/suggest/recommend that ... be + v.3 ... .
- It is advisable to ... .
ในกรณีที่เป็นการให้คำแนะนำโดยผู้พูดมีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับบริษัทหรือโครงการนั้นด้วยจะพูดว่า
- I suggest we + v.1 ... .
- We should + v.1 ... .
- We ought to + v.1 ... .
- In future we plan to + v.1 ... .
แต่ถ้าเป็นการให้คำแนะนำกับบริษัทหรือโครงการอื่นที่ผู้พูดไม่ได้เกี่ยวข้องโดยตรง เราอาจพูดว่า
- I suggest you v.1 ... .
- (I think) you should v.1 ... .
- I (would) advise/recommend n.
เช่น
- My suggestion would be to reduce our production.
- Our proposal is to increase our operation.
- The recommendation would be to expand our service.
- I propose a price hike.
- I’d like to suggest reducing our prices.
- We recommend laying off 5 percent of our workers.
- We propose the company shut down foreign operation.
- I would suggest that new price structure be adopted.
- It is advisable to split our stocks.
- We should reengineer our management.
- I think you should shift your personnel around.
สถานการณ์ตัวอย่าง
- ... . Considering the present economic situation and the company’s present financial status, I’d recommend the first option for the time being. But I’d like to suggest that we move to the second option in the future if the circumstances are more favorable than the present.
- ... . In the future, we plan to step up our production before summers start in order to cater to the demand of these young customers.
