2.1 สรรพนามชี้เฉพาะ (DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS)

สรรพนามชี้เฉพาะใช้ในการระบุให้ผู้ฟังทราบว่าคำนามที่กำลังพูดถึงนั้น หมายถึงคนไหน สัตว์ตัวใด หรือสิ่งของชิ้นไหนกันแน่ โดยอาศัยหลักที่ว่า

	หากอยู่ใกล้ตัวผู้พูด	หากอยู่ไกลตัวผู้พูด	ใช้แทนคำนามได้ทั่วไป
เอกพจน์ พหูพจน์	this these	that those	one ones

· this, these แปลว่าสิ่งนี้ สิ่งเหล่านี้ เช่น These are good apples. He likes this. These are hers.

· that, those แปลว่าสิ่งนั้น สิ่งเหล่านั้น เช่น What is that? Whose are those?

· one, ones แปลว่าหนึ่ง เหล่าหนึ่ง มักจะแปลเป็นลักษณนามตามคำนามที่ one หรือ ones เข้าไปแทน เช่น Which one is your car? Mine is the blue one. (one ในที่นี้จะแปลว่าคัน) These apples are cheap, but the ones inside are expensive. (ones ในที่นี้แปลว่าผล)

CONVERSATION 1
A: These apples look crispy.
B: I'm going to get a few myself.
A: Oh, no. This one is bad.
B: Don't get it then. Get that big one in the corner.

CONVERSATION 2

B: I think I'll buy some.
A: This is not a good one.
