1 คำนาม (NOUNS)

คำนามคือคำที่ใช้เรียกชื่อสิ่งมีชีวิต (คน สัตว์ พืช ฯลฯ) และสิ่งที่ไม่มีชีวิตทั้งที่มีตัวตนและไม่มีตัวตน (สิ่งของ สถานที่ ความคิด การกระทำ ฯลฯ) เมื่อคิดดูแล้วจะพบว่าทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างรอบๆตัวเราทั้งที่มองเห็นและมองไม่เห็นนั้นล้วนแต่เป็นคำนามทั้งสิ้น จากคำศัพท์ภาษาอังกฤษทั้งหมดหนึ่งล้านกว่าคำ เป็นคำนามเสียกว่า 8 แสนคำ จำกันไม่หวาดไม่ไหว แต่เพื่อช่วยในการจดจำนั้น นอกเหนือจากคำนามที่ใช้เรียกคน สัตว์ พืช สิ่งของ และสถานที่แล้ว (เช่น boy, Alex, dolphin, tree, guitar, Boston ฯลฯ) ให้สังเกตว่าคำที่มีคำลงท้าย ดังต่อไปนี้ส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นคำนาม
