บทที่ 17 การสรุปผลการประชุม

(Summarizing)

หลังจากที่ประชุมได้พิจารณาวาระต่างๆจบสิ้นไปแล้ว ผู้ดำเนินการประชุมหรือผู้มีหน้าที่รับผิดชอบควรจะสรุปผลการประชุมในแต่ละวาระให้ที่ประชุมได้รับทราบไว้อีกครั้งหนึ่งไม่ว่าจะเป็นประเด็นหลักๆหรือปัญหาสำคัญๆ ทั้งนี้ เพื่อที่จะเป็นพื้นฐานสำหรับการพิจารณาหรือการประชุมในครั้งต่อๆไป หรือเพื่อที่ประชุมจะได้ร่วมกันพิจารณาลงมติหรือสั่งการมอบหมายให้บุคคลหรือกลุ่มคณะหนึ่งนำไปดำเนินการต่อไปได้ บรรดาคำพูดซึ่งใช้เพื่อการนี้ ได้แก่

• To summarize, there seem to be one/two/etc. main issues/points/problems.
• So far, we’ve discussed the issue/problem of ... .
• Today, we’ve covered ... .
• It seems that we are in agreement that ... .
• We’ve agreed with some reservations that ... .
• We’ve agreed unanimously that ... .
• The agreement we reach today concerning ... is that ... .
• To sum up, today we’ve considered ... .
• Generally, the meeting is of the opinion that ... .
• We generally agree that ... .
• It is our general agreement that ... .
• In sum, we talked about ... .
• In sum, the question(s)/problem(s)/issue(s) about ... was/were raised.

ในกรณีที่เป็นการประชุมเพื่อแจ้งให้ทราบหรือไม่มีประเด็นปัญหาใดที่ต้องการข้อตัดสินใจ ที่ประชุมก็ไม่จำเป็นต้องพิจารณาตัดสินใจ และอาจปิดประชุมได้เลยหลังจากที่สรุปผลการประชุมเสร็จสิ้น แต่ถ้ามีเรื่องซึ่งต้องการการตัดสินใจของที่ประชุมแล้วจะมีการร้องขอให้ที่ประชุมพิจารณาตัดสินใจหลังจากที่มีการสรุปผลการประชุมโดยใช้คำพูดต่อไปนี้

• We’ve got to decide on ...
• Now, we have to make a decision on ...
• The meeting’s decision is needed for ...
• The issue(s)/problem(s) is/are now waiting for this meeting’s decision.

การขอให้ที่ประชมพิจารณาตัดสินใจ/ลงมติ

• We’ve got to decide on our new market strategies for next year.
• The meeting’s decision is needed for termination of deal with Star Corp.
• Now, we have to make a decision on whether to accept IBM’s or Hewlett Packard’s bid.
