1.1 กริยาหลัก (MAIN VERBS)

กริยาหลักหมายถึงคำกริยาที่พูดออกไปแล้วทำให้ผู้ฟังนึกภาพการกระทำอาการ และท่าทางของคน สัตว์ และสิ่งของได้อย่างชัดเจน เช่น run (วิ่ง), walk (เดิน), play (เล่น) ฯลฯ กริยาหลักแบ่งออกได้เป็น 2 กลุ่ม คือ

CONVERSATION 1
A: You look tired. What happened?
B: I just cleaned the whole house.
A: Oh, that's right. I saw you do that.

CONVERSATION 2
A: What happened to you? You seem to be exhausted.
B: I just mowed the lawn.
A: I thought you would do that tomorrow.
