บทที่ 13 การถามความเห็น
(Asking for Opinions)
ในระหว่างที่มีการอธิบายถึงสรรพคุณและข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสินค้าและบริการ คู่สนทนาฝ่ายใดฝ่ายหนึ่งหรือทั้งสองฝ่ายอาจจะสอบถามความเห็นหรือความรู้สึกของอีกฝ่ายหนึ่งเพื่อเป็นการขอข้อมูลเพิ่มเติม หรือไม่ก็เพื่อดูท่าที วิธีการถามในลักษณะนี้นั้นถือเป็นวิธีที่แนบเนียนกลมกลืน เป็นการถามแบบอ้อมค้อม ไม่ตรงไปตรงมาเหมือนเช่นการสอบถามข้อมูลในบทที่ 6 แต่นอกจากจะทำให้ทราบได้ว่าคู่สนทนามีความคิดเห็นเช่นไรแล้วยังชี้ให้เห็นเป็นนัยว่าเขามีแนวโน้มที่จะพูดหรือจะทำอะไรต่อไปอีกด้วย เราสามารถเรียงคำถามที่ใช้สอบถามความเห็นจากลำดับของความแนบเนียนจากมากสุดลงไปจนถึงการถามตรงๆซึ่งอาจทำให้ผู้ฟังรู้สึกคล้ายกับว่ากำลังถูกคาดคั้นเอาคำตอบอยู่ ดังนี้

Do you really believe that our performance is not on target yet? Do you really think that price reduction won’t increase sale? |
ลักษณะของคำถามเกือบทั้งหมดข้างต้นเป็นคำถามที่ต้องการคำตอบ yes หรือ no มากกว่าที่จะต้องการคำสาธยาย และหากเราต้องการคำตอบที่เป็นคำอธิบายแล้วอาจพิจารณาเลือกใช้วิธีการตั้งคำถามจากตัวอย่างดังต่อไปนี้
- How do you feel about ...?
- What do you think about ...?
- Why do you think/feel (that) ...?
สถานการณ์ตัวอย่าง การใช้คำถามเพื่อสอบถามความเห็นของคู่สนทนา
- Brad : From the survey we did at your firm, am I right in assuming that you are generally satisfied with our service?
Christy : Pretty much so.
- Keanu : Do you believe that your system can help us with our accounting and filing?
Sharon : Absolutely. It can help you in other areas of work too.
- Matt : Don’t you think that your work would be much enhanced with our TM-7076?
Keith : I’d sure hope so.
