2 ประโยคอุทาน (EXCLAMATORY SENTENCES)
Exclamatory sentence คือกลุ่มคำพูดที่แสดงอารมณ์ความรู้สึกของผู้พูดออกมา โดยจะมีรูปเป็นประโยคง่ายๆสั้นๆ หรือเป็นประโยคที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย what, why, how และตามท้ายด้วยเครื่องหมายอัศเจรีย์ เช่น
The cake was gone!
I've forgotten my appointment!
I'm late!
What's with you!
Why it always has to be me!
How beautiful you look!
· เราสามารถใช้คำอุทานร่วมกับประโยคอุทานได้เพื่อเน้นอารมณ์หรือความรู้สึก เช่น
Gee! I'm late!
Ouch! You stepped on my foot!
Darn! I forgot to bring your book!
You don't like him, huh!
CONVERSATION 1
A: What time is it?
B: It's 10:30.
A: I'm late!
CONVERSATION 2
A: What's the time?
B: It's 9:45.
