1.3 การเปรียบเทียบคำคุณศัพท์ (COMPARISON OF ADJECTIVE)

ในการพูดคุยมักจะมีการเปรียบเทียบคุณลักษณะของคำนามอยู่เสมอและวิธีเปรียบเทียบคำคุณศัพท์มีอยู่ 3 วิธี คือ

ขั้นการเปรียบเทียบ	สูตร	ตัวอย่าง
เท่า/ไม่เท่ากัน (in) equality กว่า* (comparative) สุด* (superlative)	(not) as + adjective + as adjective + er (than) adjective + est (of)	... as quick as ... quicker than ... the quickest of ...

* หมายเหตุ

· คำคุณศัพท์ที่มีมากกว่า 2 พยางค์ เช่น beautiful, important ฯลฯ เมื่อนำมาเปรียบเทียบในขั้นกว่าหรือขั้นสุดจะใช้วิธีเติม more หรือ most ไปข้างหน้าแทนการเติม er หรือ est เช่น more beautiful than และ the most beautiful ในขั้นสุด

· นอกจากนี้ ยังมีคำคุณศัพท์บางคำที่มีรูปแบบของคำที่ใช้ในการเปรียบเทียบแตกต่างออกไป เช่น
ดี : good better best
เลว : bad worse worst
มาก : many/much more most
น้อย : little less least
ไกล : far further furthest

CONVERSATION 1
A: Eric used to be shorter than Scott.
B: Now Eric is taller than Scott.
A: Anyway, Jon used to be the shortest boy in class, but now he is the tallest boy in class.

CONVERSATION 2
A: Scott used to be taller than Eric.
B: Scott is shorter than Eric now.
A: Anyway, Jon is still the tallest boy in class.
